Frequently asked questions.

How do I know if my animal needs a chiropractor?

You may notice subtle changes in your animal’s movement, posture, or behavior that suggest discomfort or restricted mobility. Common signs that your animal could benefit from chiropractic care include stiffness, reluctance to move, difficulty jumping or turning, uneven gait, sensitivity when being touched, or a decrease in performance or attitude. But you do NOT have to wait for your animal to be in pain to benefit from chiropractic care! Routine or maintenance visits can help prevent issues before they start and promote long-term health and performance.

What conditions can chiropractic help?

Chiropractic care can support a wide range of conditions. These conditions include (but are not limited to): arthritis, hip dysplasia, disc disease, lameness/limping, spinal injury, spondylosis, neurological symptoms, hypo/hypersensitivity, jaw pain or difficulty chewing, recovery from injury or surgery, constipation, and incontinence.

Will I hear cracking/popping sounds during the adjustment?

The noise you might hear during a chiropractic treatment, typically in humans, is called a cavitation. This “popping” or “cracking” sound occurs when gas is released from the joint at the time of the adjustment. This does not always happen, and is NO indication as to the effectiveness of a treatment. Cavitation is rare when treating animals as their physiology is different than humans.

Is chiropractic care safe for my animal?

Yes, when performed by a properly trained and certified animal chiropractor, chiropractic care is very safe. Adjustments are gentle, specific, and tailored to your animal’s specific needs. Most animals relax during treatment and often show signs of relief right away. Chiropractic care is non-invasive and designed to support your animal’s overall health and mobility without the use of drugs or surgery.
